Collective Bargaining

The Vice President responsible for Collective Bargaining and our local’s Collective Bargaining Committee (CBC) have a variety of roles related to our collective agreement.

Your CBC prepares for and conducts negotiations toward a collective agreement governing terms and conditions of employment on behalf of the members of ETFO -WRTL employed by the Waterloo Region District School Board.

The committee is composed of a combination of 3 released officers, executive members, and other teachers from Waterloo Region. Every attempt is made to ensure that the membership of this committee is reflective of the various roles available in our local (various teaching divisions, classroom teachers, consultants, etc). The committee’s membership is approved by Representative Council and, once intent to bargain has been served, the existing committee will continue in place until a collective agreement has been achieved.

Throughout the term of a collective agreement, your released officers serve on joint Union-Board committees related to the agreement (Supervision Committee, Joint Health and Safety Committee, etc).

Your Collective Agreement details the terms and conditions of employment for all elementary teachers employed by the Board.

Grievances are filed to resolve disputes involving the application, administration, interpretation or alleged violation of the collective agreement when discussions between the Board and ETFO are unsuccessful.

If you have questions/concerns about your Collective Agreement please e-mail Ali Lyon or phone the ETFO Waterloo Region Office at 519-896-7172.
