Petition to the Government of Ontario: Invest in Safe, Modern Schools for Waterloo Region
Families, educators, and community members of Waterloo Region demand immediate action to fix our crumbling schools and build new ones for our growing student population.
The facts:

Over 50 public schools in Waterloo Region are below a state of good repair, with a $178 million local repair backlog.

The WRDSB, WCDSB, and local French-language boards all face overcrowding and urgent facility needs.

Thousands of new student spaces are needed to keep up with enrolment growth.

Investing in school infrastructure creates local jobs in trades and construction, boosting our economy.
We call on the Ontario government to:

Increase 10-year school capital funding to at least $31.4 billion.

Repair and replace schools in urgent need, across all boards.

Build new schools to prevent overcrowding.

I don’t live in the Waterloo region but that doesn’t matter. There needs to be proper investment in public education no matter where you live in the province. Fund our schools properly. Fund education properly. Fund postsecondary institutions properly. -
Although I do not live in Waterloo, I know the above challenges are the same throughout the province due to this delinquent government’s lack of care to address them

It’s time to invest in repairing and building schools in Waterloo Region and across Ontario. All children deserve to be educated in SAFE schools that are in a good state of repair.
